Overview

Discover the highlights of the hilly green mountain landscape and the Mongolian steppe on horseback. Breathtaking landscapes and the warm hospitality of the nomads will remain unforgettable. The beginning of the journey is a natural spectacle: We drive to a hilly green landscape in Khan-Khentii National Park and we visit the world's largest equestrian statue. Then our journey, on horseback, goes further into the Khan-Khentii mountains. The ride goes along the "Tuul" river and then to the lake" Khagiin Khar Nuur". During the trip, we visit a nomad family and experience their nomadic lifestyle.


Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, city tour

    Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, it's recommended that you check-in to the hotel and relax from your flight. We begin our city tour by visiting the National Historical Museum. Further, we stroll at the "Sukhbaatar" square where the monument of Genghis Khan and Parliament Building lies. Then we drive to the "Zaisan" hill to enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the whole city. Finally, we get to know about Mongolian traditional art and have a welcome dinner. (Accommodation: Hotel Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.)

Day 2: Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex

In the morning we head out to the east for the world's largest equestrian statue. This place is also known as the uprising point "Genghis Khan". Genghis Khan, on his way back from a visit to Tooril Khan of Keraitas, found a whip at this place. Finding a whip is considered as a lucky charm for Mongolians. That being the case, the world's largest equestrian statue was built here. At the lookout point, we enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of its surroundings. After lunch, we drive to Ger-camp in the National Park. (Accommodation: Ger camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)

Day 3: Horse riding in Terelj National Park

Today is our first riding day. After having breakfast in Ger-camp, we saddle our horses and start our riding tour in the direction of "Khagiin Khar Nuur". The tour today goes along the river "Tuul" and up to the campsite. (Accommodation: Ger - camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)

Day 4: Riding along Tuul river in Khan Khentii protected area

After breakfast, we pack up our things and prepare for the start. The tour goes through a hilly forest area. The forests consist of Siberian larches and deciduous trees. The way to the tent location is beautifully varied and we will have no boredom. Once we reach our destination, we set up the tent camp and start cooking our meals. (Accommodation: Tent camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)

Day 5: Riding to Khagiin Khar lake.

Today, we head to the lake "Khagiin Khar Nuur". The lake is located at an altitude of 1817m above sea level and covers an area of ​​2.7km2, moreover, the lake is 2.5km long, 1.1km wide and deep up to 25m. Here, our horseback ride continues towards the lake. In the afternoon, we return to our tent camp and stay there for two more days. (Accommodation: Tent camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.) 

Day 6: Relaxing day at the lake

After making an effort for days, we earned a day to rest. On this day, we recover at the lake to restore our strength for the next three days. (Accommodation: Tent camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)

Day 7 - 8: Riding through Khavirga mount pass

It's time to get on the horse again. After breakfast, we pack up and ride over a wooded pass up to a high valley, which is surrounded by colorful mountains. The return trip takes three days to reach the first Cer-camp. (Accommodation: Tent camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)

Day 9 - 10: Riding through Gorkhi – Terelj national park and Tuul river basin.

We're back at our Ger-camp. After four days of riding, we take a shower. It is time to say goodbye to our horse breeders and their horses. (Accommodation: Ger – camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)

Day 11: Return to a nomad family in Terelj national park and Ulaanbaatar

On this day, we get in the car and drive back to the capital. After we've fully rested, we head back to Ulaanbaatar. After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, we watch the Mongolian folklore. Finally, we all have the last dinner together. (Accommodation: Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.) 

Day 12: Departure 

You will be at leisure in your hotel and you may stroll around on your own until our guide escorts you to Chinggis Khaan International Airport for your departure flight. Your driver will assist you with flight check-in and luggage, and see you off at the point of security check. (Breakfast.)
