NAADAM FESTIVAL 2019
Overview
Discover the highlights of Mongolia and the Mongolian steppe. Breathtaking landscapes and the warm hospitality of the nomads will remain unforgettable. At the beginning of our trip, there is a special event: the Naadam Festival, the Mongolian National Festival consisting of three disciplines: wrestling, horse racing, and archery. We'll see the Przewalski horses in the Khustai National Park while galloping through the steppe. It will be a truly remarkable moment because they already extinct in the wild. On the way, we'll discover a spectacular place where sand dunes, grass steppe and rock formation combined in one place, followed by a visit to "Erdene Zuu" monastery. Then a day at Lake "Ugii" before the Naadamfest. On the last day of the trip, we'll watch a horse race on the outskirts.

After lunch in a Ger-camp, we’ll visit the "Kharakhorum" museum, followed by a visit to the "Erdene Zuu" monastery.
(Walking time: 1 hour.)
(Driving time: 2 hours. Accommodation: Ger camp, and Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)This day is the most remarkable day for all Mongolians. It’s the day of national festival "Naadam". The origin of the festival possibly goes to the "Ikh Khuraldai", which translates to "Great meeting" and were social highlights back in the Middle Ages. The 11th of July was later rearranged as the National Day of Independence, moreover, commemorates the country's proclamation of independence in 1921. The Naadam festival consists of three disciplines such as wrestling, horse racing, and archery. On this day, we’ll see the opening ceremony at the stadium and after having lunch, we’ll see the other discipline, archery and that will conclude our first day.
(Walking time: 1 hour. Accommodation: Hotel 4*. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.)Earlier in the morning, we will drive to “Khui Doloon Khudag” racecourse to witness a horse race. The best horses in the country will gather in Ulaanbaatar to compete in the race. Mongolian horse trainers train their horses in nature several months before the race, because winning the race means a lot of success and fortune to them. We’ll witness the very first race. Hundreds of horses will be available at the startup point with their riders who are 7-12 years old children.
